I have a multilevel list where each level needs to be a heading style. Occasionally I need to make a ref hyperlink field back to another place in the list. I want the ref hyperlink field to look like a hyperlink so I format REF and switch \h \*Charformat. It seems like sometimes the formatting will reflect my formatting and sometimes not. Sometimes it stays formatted for a while and then reverts back to the heading style.

What could be going on and is there any option to have Word prefer \*Charformat over S
